How to get rid of ingrown hair on my tattoo?

i had a number of red spots on my tattoos due to ingrown hair. The hair follicle is stucked inside the red spots on my skin and i doubt they are growing out. Are there any ways to reduce the redness or scar? i have tried picking the hair follicle out with a needle but it just doesnt work as it's deep so i just give up n try to live with it instead. picking only worsens the area as it causes discoloration to my tattoos. do u guys recommend tattoo to cover up the red spots or are there any medical substance to heal the area affected? thanks guys!
