Why do i keep getting a white transparent screen that freezes everything on my lap top?

my lap top keeps getting this transparent white screen that freezes everything and takes a long time to go back to normal. sometimes i must shut down or reboot. please help me. it's driving me crazy... ty in advance.. Mr. out of answers(Devin)
